This Week on Artist & International Dance (6/28)

This Sunday the weekly program, Dance Diplomacy with Jonathan, continues:

On the next three Sundays, June 14, 21 and 28, Hollander’s Dance Diplomacy interviews bring together non-profit and education leaders, diplomats and Syrian refugee dancers, to examine the ways in which the pandemic has impacted Germany and to examine the short and long-term ramifications of the virus in the realms of culture, education and society itself.

This Sunday features Medhat Albaabal, Saeed Hani and Amr Karkout, three professional dancers originally from Syria who have made new lives and careers in Germany since the war made it impossible for them to continue in their homeland.  Each has been a teacher trainee with Battery Dance in our Dancing to Connect for Refugee Integration programs in Germany over the past years, helping translate for the refugee kids who are Arabic speakers and learning our methodologies so that they can become trainers in their own right going forward.

At 2pm, Mohammad Ali Deeb, a native of Syria based in Germany, will teach a Dabke Class on Battery Dance TV. At 4pm, Syrian dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist Saeed Hani will premiere a solo performance.
