This Sunday the weekly program, Dance Diplomacy with Jonathan, continues:
Learn how Battery Dance pivoted its acclaimed Dancing to Connect program to the virtual realm through this engaging and insightful interview with Battery Dancer Sarah Housepian and her German teacher trainee Antony Franz. Don’t miss this inspiring interview a 9 a.m. and 12 noon EST this Sunday on Battery Dance TV.
Having conducted refugee integration programs in Germany for the past 4 years through our Dancing to Connect program, Battery Dance was set to work in 6 regions of Germany in June and July, 2020.
Battery Dance re-imagined the program due to the pandemic and launched a virtual version. in the City of Kassel where students ranging in age from 12 – 25 engaged in exercises in a large dance studio, building material that was captured on film in several locations around the City.
With German dancer/educator Antony Franz in the studio with the participants and Battery Dance teaching artist Sarah Housepian “zooming” in from California, the program felt normal and natural and has set the path forward for the Company with upcoming programs in other regions of Germany as well as in Bolivia and elsewhere.
Later in the afternoon, take class from Sarah Housepian at 2 p.m. and enjoy a solo by Antony Franz at 4 p.m.
