SIONA DAWKINS

BATTERY DANCE FESTIVAL INTERN

Siona started dancing at age 3 at the School of Performing Arts before moving to Inspire School of Dance.  She progressed to advanced levels in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, and tap throughout her years at Inspire. As a Company member, Siona has worked with choreographers like Taja Riley and Brandon Coleman. Siona finished the season at the New York City Dance Alliance Nationals where she was awarded the Regional Standout Dancer Scholarship and the following year was granted with the Triple Threat Scholarship at NYCDA’s Regionals.

While at Inspire, she volunteered to assist teaching little kids ballet and jazz at the studio. Her work with Inspire completed as she was accepted into Phillips Exeter Academy. She is now on their Varsity Dance Company as well as their dance team, The Lionettes. At the Academy, she is part of a student service club that teaches dance to Pre-School kids. In her free time, she also enjoys volunteering with Feed My Starving Children. Siona recently traveled to New Orleans to volunteer to paint homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Since she’s gotten back, this internship with the Battery Dance Company is her first. In the future, she hopes to continue dancing through college and, when she’s older, to open her own dance studio.
