Dancing to Connect Seniors: Hamilton-Madison House Residency10 Apr 2019, Posted by in
With the support of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and the SU-CASA program, Battery Dance will be providing dance classes, creativity workshops, and performances with immigrant seniors at the Hamilton-Madison House in New York City.
Every Thursday, over the course of 4 months, Seniors in the center will be provided classes in dance genres ballroom, contemporary, salsa, and west-african. At the end of the class series, seniors will participate in a Dancing to Connect intensive program, creating their own choreography based on their own stories. The Dancing to Connect week will culminate with a free public showing of the seniors’ work at the center, in addition to works by Battery Dance.
The performance on June 28th at 11:00am is free and open to the public.
