Artistic Collaborations
Throughout its history, Battery Dance has embraced the opportunity to collaborate with artists from different countries and cultures, seeking new inspiration and learning opportunities for the artists themselves and their audiences at home and abroad. Examples include the Company’s newest production, The Durga Project, which has evolved through the interaction between the Company’s dancers and Unnath H.R., a classical Bharatanatyam dancer from India; and earlier collaborations with Tangaj Dance (Romania) – 2014; Sutra Dance Theatre (Malaysia) – 2011; L’ONCI (Algeria) – 2011; Quorum Ballet (Portugal) – 2007; Silesian Dance Theatre (Poland) – 2003; all the way back to Darpana Dance Company (India) – 1992. These interactions have enriched the Company’s repertoire immeasurably and have led to long-term relationships and foreign national tours in many cases.
