Laura Mercer




Laura has recently moved to NYC from the UK where she worked as a Projects Manager and Teaching Artist for a number of dance organizations across London and the wider UK. For the last five years Laura worked as Projects Manager at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in the Learning and Participation department. Laura managed many large-scale youth dance festivals, workshops, schools projects and a scheme mentoring young people to develop skills in teaching and project management. Laura also previously managed the Trinity Laban International Summer School bringing together 200 dancers from across 30 different countries to train at The Laban Building.Whilst studying for her BA (Hons) Dance and Culture degree at the University of Surrey, Laura developed a keen interest in how dance can bring communities and cultures together in the UK and around the world. Since then Laura has travelled to Gambia, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, delivering dance projects with community arts organization, Arts Odyssey.Laura’s most recent teaching work includes teaching dance on the Pediatric wards of the Royal London Hospital, leading Trinity Laban’s Dance Ability class for children with disabilities and their siblings and as lead teacher on the Royal Academy of Dance ‘Step Into Dance’ program. Laura has choreographed performances for these groups shown at The Laban Theatre and Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London. Laura is excited to be residing in NYC and working with Battery Dance on their Arts in Education programs.
